The Diploma III Program in Room Division at Poltekpar Bali Enhances Community Capacity in Tajen Tourism Village Through Homestay Management Training in Penebel, Tabanan

Tabanan – Tajen Tourism Village, located in Penebel District, Tabanan Regency, is known for its stunning natural and cultural potential. Politeknik Pariwisata (Poltekpar) Bali continues to demonstrate its commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service programs. This time, Poltekpar Bali, through its Diploma III Program in Room Division, held Homestay Management Training for the community in Tajen Tourism Village, Penebel District, on September 27-28, 2024. This program follows an initial phase of community service that focused on socializing homestay management and understanding excellent service for tourists. In this second phase, the training emphasized enhancing technical skills in homestay management, aiming to help the community optimize the tourism potential of the village.

The event began with an opening ceremony at the Tajen Village Office, attended by the Director of Poltekpar Bali, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes., the Head of Tajen Tourism Village, I Gusti Made Sukerta, speakers, and all faculty members from the Diploma III Program in Room Division.

In his speech, the Director of Poltekpar Bali expressed that this training is a concrete manifestation of the institution's commitment to community service. “Tajen Tourism Village has extraordinary tourism potential. We believe this training can help maximize that potential and provide positive contributions to the local community,” stated Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Puja.

The Head of Tajen Tourism Village, I Gusti Made Sukerta, also expressed his appreciation and support for the initiative. “This training will provide the community with knowledge about homestay management, room cleanliness, and other essential aspects. We hope this training can enhance service quality and comfort for tourists visiting Tajen Village,” he remarked.

The training involved all community elements, including youth and residents interested in turning their homes or rooms into homestays. The Homestay Management Training was attended by 30 participants, including homestay owners, members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), managers of the Village-Owned Enterprises (Bumdes), and women supporting homestay operators. The participants had previously attended socialization sessions regarding excellent service for tourists. “We want to encourage active community involvement in tourism activities, so Tajen can develop into a more attractive destination for visitors,” said the village head.

The training covered topics presented by experts from the Room Division Program, including homestay identification and cleanliness audits of facilities. This aimed to provide insights and improve service standards for the comfort of tourists. It is hoped that after this training, participants will enhance their understanding of effective homestay management, which will ultimately have a positive impact on local economic development and tourist experiences. Through this community service program, Poltekpar Bali remains committed to empowering the community and supporting the development of culture-based tourism in Bali.
