MANGUPURA, POS BALI - The Division of Room (Dik) Study Program at Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali) continues to implement one of the higher education institution's Tri Dharma programs, namely Community Service (PKM).

Dozens of lecturers from one of the most popular study programs at the vocational higher education institution in Nusa Dua, Bali, carried out PKM in Tajen Village, Tabanan Regency, Bali.

The Head of the PKM Committee for Tajen Village, Dr. I Gede Darmawijaya, stated in Nusa Dua on Thursday (April 10, 2025), that the PKM in this area was carried out with the spirit of collaboration and empowerment, launching a community service program titled "Sustainable Tourism Village Transformation: Strengthening the Tajen Village Tourism Ecosystem Through Integrated Governance." “This initiative is not just a form of social responsibility for higher education institutions but a concrete implementation of both practical and theoretical approaches in building the foundation for resilient and competitive village tourism,” he explained.

According to him, this program was designed as a collaborative, multi-stakeholder-based community service model involving academics (lecturers and students), village officials, homestay managers, tourism attraction operators, and the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).

“This participatory approach ensures that each intervention not only addresses short-term needs but also builds a sustainable system,” added Dr. Darmawijaya. He emphasized that this activity is based on four main pillars that serve as the foundation for the sustainable transformation of Tajen Tourism Village.

The first pillar is homestay management, which includes mapping, evaluation, and standardization of facilities and services, with an emphasis on the uniqueness of local culture as the main selling point. The second pillar is the development of tourism attractions, which is done by creating informative and engaging documentation of the attractions. Next, the third pillar focuses on cleanliness and waste management, prioritizing educational programs and the implementation of a circular economy concept based on community participation to create a clean and sustainable village environment.
