Promoting Tourism HRD, the Convention and Event Management Program at Bali Tourism Polytechnic Continues Community Service in Serangan Village
Bali Tourism Polytechnic, a leading public institution under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, serves as an educational hub specializing in tourism, particularly in Event and MICE fields. The Convention and Event Management Program conducts Community Service Programs (PKM) as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, focusing on "Event Management." This community service initiative spanned two days, commencing on Thursday, June 22, 2023. The event was inaugurated by Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Agung Suprastayasa, M.Ed. Among the distinguished guests were the Village Head of Panji, Jro Mangku Made Ariawan, and the Head of the Village Empowerment Team (TP PKK), Ni Made Ari Cahyanti, who is also an alumna of Bali Tourism Polytechnic.
Village Head Jro Mangku Made Ariawan highlighted the rapid development in various tourism sectors, SMEs, and party equipment services in his village lately. Recent developments include increased visits to natural and historical attractions, as well as flourishing marketing of flagship SME products like Panji Herbal, Sorgum, and Smoked Dengdeng. The rental services for party equipment have also seen significant growth. "The participants we've gathered are investors in the village who have developed their businesses in tourism, SMEs, and event equipment services," he stated. He added that as part of the larger community, their hope is for this training to facilitate knowledge sharing and extend the support of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, where many of them received their education, towards further enhancing event management businesses in Panji Village.
In his address, the head of Bali Tourism Polytechnic's P3M, Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Agung Suprastayasa, M.Ed., emphasized the institution's motto of "Manganjali Karya Werdhi," signifying dedication to improving both education and community initiatives. "Returning to the village and contributing to its development by an alumni of Bali Tourism Polytechnic serving as the village head of Panji is a source of pride for us as educators." Enhancing the village's potential to benefit not only economically but also socially, culturally, and environmentally, he hoped, would be a realization of sustainable development.
The training sessions were divided into four sessions over two days. The first session, presented by Mr. I Nengah Wirata, S.E., M.Par, covered an overview of MICE and Event Business. The second session on Ideas and Event Concepts was led by Ms. Luh Putu Citrawati, S.E., M.Si. On the following day, Friday, June 23, the third session focused on Event Planning and Marketing, delivered by Dr. Nyoman Dini Andiani, S.ST.Par., M.Par. Participants engaged enthusiastically in the activities as the sessions were delivered with a balance of seriousness and ease by experienced MICE professionals and academic experts in tourism. This initiative invited all participants to collectively learn and develop skills in event management, revitalizing activities, and introducing Panji Village through creative and sustainable local events. The organizers hold high hopes that the people of Panji Village can become proficient event managers and professionals in the field.
