Poltekpar Bali Signs MoU with D.E.S.A Project: Participating in Community Empowerment through Tourism
Nusa Dua, February 4, 2025 – Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the D.E.S.A (Develop, Empower, Sustain, Act) Project. Poltekpar Bali believes that this collaboration can contribute to community empowerment, particularly in Bali, especially in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
The Founder of the D.E.S.A Project, Gede Putra Witsen, was welcomed by the Director of Poltekpar Bali, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes, along with other officials. According to Dr. Puja, this collaboration is a positive initiative for the development of the education, tourism, and community empowerment sectors. This aligns with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in education, research, and community service, where educational institutions must provide benefits to society.
The MoU was signed in person by the Director of Poltekpar Bali and the Director of the D.E.S.A Project. Putra Witsen, as the initiator of the D.E.S.A Project, expressed his hope that Poltekpar Bali could contribute to the empowerment of the Balinese community, particularly in enhancing the capacity of tourism and hospitality. "In achieving our goals, vision, and mission, we want to involve Poltekpar Bali in tourism skills training for village communities, and we also open opportunities for collaboration in internship programs for Poltekpar Bali students," said Witsen.
In addition to the MoU signing, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was also signed with the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Tourism Destination Studies (DEP). The MoA was signed by the Coordinator of the DEP Program, Dewa Ayu Made Lily Dianasari, ST., M.Si., and the Vice Director III for Cooperation, Students, and Alumni at Poltekpar Bali, Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti, A.Par., S.E, M.Par., M.Rech. Dr. Wiarti stated that with this MoA signing, Poltekpar Bali fully supports the provision of training materials, the implementation of internships, and tourism-related programs that can have a positive impact on students involved in the D.E.S.A Project.
The strengthening of collaboration and cooperation in community empowerment, particularly in the tourism and hospitality sectors, is also an implementation of the SDGs goals, including goal no. 11 on Sustainable Cities and Communities and goal no. 17 on Partnership for the Goals. Collaboration focusing on community empowerment is a key priority for Poltekpar Bali as an educational institution, in addition to producing professional workforce in hospitality and tourism. Poltekpar Bali hopes that the signing of this MoU will mark the beginning of enhancing the human resource capacity in tourism in Bali.
