Poltekpar Bali and Tabanan Regency Tourism Office Successfully Held Collaborative PKM Activity at Angseri Tourism Village
Tabanan, August 9, 2024 – Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali) in collaboration with the Tabanan Regency Tourism Office successfully organized a Collaborative Community Service (PKM) event with the theme “Integrated Tourism Village Transformation: Building Superior Human Resources for Sustainable Tourism in Tabanan Regency.” The event took place from August 7 to 9, 2024, at Angseri Tourism Village, Tabanan.
As a key economic driver in Tabanan Regency, tourism plays a crucial role in supporting the local economy. The tourism sector in this area has created job opportunities and business prospects for the local community. However, uncontrolled growth and a lack of sustainable management can negatively impact the natural resources that attract tourists. Therefore, developing high-quality Human Resources (HR) is essential to ensure sustainable and competitive tourism management.
Poltekpar Bali, under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, plays a strategic role in providing education and training for future leaders in the tourism industry. Through close collaboration with the Tabanan Regency Tourism Office, Poltekpar Bali offers the knowledge and expertise needed to enhance local capacity. This joint commitment lays the foundation for transforming tourism villages in Tabanan into models of sustainable tourism that can serve as examples at both regional and international levels.
Angseri Village was chosen as the location for the Collaborative PKM activity due to its outstanding tourism potential, which has not yet been optimally managed. The village is known for its natural hot springs, which have been managed by the community since 2006, and has significant potential in homestays and culinary tourism. However, there are various barriers preventing the village from achieving optimal performance in contributing to the local economy. Through appropriate training and skill development, the Angseri community is expected to enhance the quality of tourism services and operations in their village.
The Collaborative PKM activity aimed to develop and improve the quality of Human Resources in the tourism sector, specifically in Angseri Tourism Village. Over three days, various training materials were delivered by experts and practitioners in the tourism field to around 30 participants from Angseri Village, including housewives, youth, and managers of homestays and eateries.
At the opening event on August 8, 2024, the Head of the Hospitality Department at Poltekpar Bali, Mr. I Made Rumadana, SE., M.Par., representing the Director of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, stated that this activity is part of Poltekpar Bali’s commitment to supporting the development of sustainable tourism in Tabanan Regency. “We hope that through this activity, the Angseri community can gain the knowledge and skills needed to manage the tourism village more effectively, improve service quality, and optimize the potential of Angseri Village,” said Mr. I Made Rumadana.
In addition to the training, participants also had the opportunity to engage in discussions and share experiences with facilitators and speakers, enhancing their insights and practical knowledge in sustainable tourism management.
Angseri Village Head, Mr. I Nyoman Warnata, S.Sos., expressed appreciation and gratitude for the implementation of this activity. “We are very grateful to Poltekpar Bali and the Tabanan Regency Tourism Office for organizing this event. We hope the knowledge gained can be applied to improve the quality and competitiveness of tourism in Angseri Village,” said Mr. I Nyoman Warnata.
The event concluded with a formal closing on August 9, 2024, including participant reflections on the training and the presentation of certificates as a sign of participation in the Collaborative PKM activity.
