Poltekpar Bali and STED Swisscontact Lead the World's First Green Skills in Tourism Project: Blue Print for the Future of Sustainable Tourism
DENPASAR, radarbali.jawapos.com – Bali once again made history as a global center for sustainability innovation with the Green Skills in Tourism Gap Assessment event through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) between STED Swisscontact Indonesia, Swisscontact Global Office, and Bali Tourism Polytechnic.
The event, held at UID Bali Campus in Serangan, is part of the world’s first pilot project specifically aimed at assessing the green skills gap in the tourism sector and related industries. This initiative was led by STED Swisscontact Indonesia and Swisscontact Global Office, in collaboration with the Research and Community Service Center of Bali Tourism Polytechnic. The FGD was led by Mrs. Putu Diah Sastri Pitanatri, Head of the Research and Community Service Center of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, and Mrs. Zahrah Ratna Sari, Senior Program Officer of Public-Private Partnership SS4C (Swisscontact Indonesia).
This collaborative research aims to identify the urgent Green Skills in Tourism needed for sustainable tourism with a specific focus on Bali and its surrounding areas. Through a discussion-based approach (FGD), experts from various sectors analyzed the green skills required in tourism, which are key to facing global challenges such as climate change and the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Niklaus Waldvogel, Advisor for Skills Development, Green Skills & Job Focal Point Swisscontact, stated in his speech, "This initiative is a critical step in addressing the global demand for Green Skills in Tourism."
"By starting in Bali, we aim to set an example that can be replicated worldwide, showing that sustainable practices can become a competitive advantage for the tourism industry."
