Politeknik Pariwisata Bali had the honor of hosting a delegation from The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), a Swiss government agency focused on economic policy and development cooperation, on November 16, 2024. SECO, which has supported the Ministry of Finance through the Public Financial Management Multi-Donor Trust Fund (PFM MDTF) implemented by the World Bank, was represented by a team led by Ambassador Valerie Berset Bircher.
The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes, Director of Politeknik Pariwisata Bali, at the Saraswati Restaurant. The visit was part of a collaboration between Poltekpar Bali and Swiss Skills for Competitiveness (SS4C) under the guidance of the Tourism Human Resource Development Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf RI).
The event commenced with a skill demonstration by students from the Hospitality Management Program, showcasing their expertise in mixology and coffee brewing. Ambassador Bircher expressed her delight at being amidst Poltekpar Bali students and conveyed her admiration for their professionalism and enthusiasm.
“We are eager to learn more about Politeknik Pariwisata Bali as a leading tourism education institution collaborating with SS4C,” said Ms. Bircher.
Following this, a presentation and interactive discussion were held in the Multipurpose Room, focusing on educational programs and initiatives to enhance human resource capacity in tourism, particularly at Poltekpar Bali. SECO expressed its interest in exploring further collaboration opportunities through SS4C and Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED).
The visit concluded with a campus tour led by the Director, allowing the delegation to observe the facilities firsthand, followed by a luncheon at Kamala Bali Hotel, fostering stronger ties between the two institutions.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing globally competitive and sustainable tourism development.
