As one of the state tourism colleges under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Bali Tourism Polytechnic fulfills its commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through Community Service (PKM). The PKM activity was conducted by the Master's Program in Applied Tourism (MTP) over two days, from Thursday to Friday, October 12-13, 2023, at Sayan Tourism Village, Gianyar Regency. The theme of the event was 'Advanced Training in Marketing Communication and Sales Techniques of Creative Products in Sayan Tourism Village, Gianyar Regency'. This training marks the second session following the previous one held in July. The opening of the PKM event by the MTP Master's Program was officially conducted on Thursday, October 12, 2023, by Vice Director II, I Wayan Tuwi, SE., M.Si.
According to his remarks, I Wayan Tuwi, SE., M.Si., emphasized that this training initiative is a tangible effort by Bali Tourism Polytechnic to fulfill the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through Community Service, particularly in Sayan Tourism Village. "I hope all the theoretical knowledge shared by the speakers over these two days can also be practically applied in the community," added I Wayan Tuwi, SE., M.Si. This sentiment aligns with the report from the Coordinator of the MTP Master's Program in Applied Tourism, Dr. I Putu Utama, SE., MM. According to his report, the PKM activities in Sayan Village are part of an ongoing program, where previous sessions focused on similar topics and the current session refines techniques related to marketing and selling creative economy products. Also present was the Head of Sayan Village, I Made Andhika, S.Kom, who highlighted the longstanding collaboration between Sayan Village and Bali Tourism Polytechnic, dating back to 2019. This partnership has resulted in the creation of products by residents of Sayan Village and the enhancement of tourism human resources in the area.
Following the official opening by Vice Director II of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, the PKM activities continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Sayan Village and Bali Tourism Polytechnic. Under this MoA, Bali Tourism Polytechnic will continue to support Sayan Tourism Village in enhancing tourism human resources. The two-day PKM activities focused on knowledge and practical skills in marketing and selling local products from Sayan Village. In addition to local tourism groups and enthusiasts, several entrepreneurs participated in the PKM, including furniture makers, traditional textile producers, and honey producers. Various topics were covered to meet the needs for enhancing tourism human resources in Sayan Village, including 'Digital Marketing of Creative MSME Products', 'Practice in Marketing Communication (content creation)', 'Sales Techniques Practice', and 'Product Packaging and Local Entrepreneurship Practices'. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident through the active engagement in discussions and numerous questions posed to the speakers. It is hoped that this training initiative will benefit the residents of Sayan Village, transforming it from a mere transit area into an attractive tourism destination in Gianyar Regency, supported by prepared tourism human resources from Sayan Village.
