"ITDC Partners with Poltekpar Bali to Enhance MSME Competencies in The Nusa Dua for Outstanding Tourism Services."
**Nusa Dua, October 10, 2024** – PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) has partnered with Bali Polytechnic of Tourism (Poltekpar Bali) to conduct a Community Service (PKM) collaborative program titled “Hospitality & Service Excellence Training,” which takes place from October 10 to 11, 2024, at the ITDC office in The Nusa Dua area.
The collaborative PKM program was officially opened today by I Putu Trisna Wijaya, Group Head of Operation & Service at The Nusa Dua, accompanied by Dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Witarsana, S.St.Par, MM., CHE, Deputy Director I of Poltekpar Bali, and attended by 60 participants from the Beach Traders Association in The Nusa Dua. This structured capacity-building program aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of beach traders’ MSMEs so they can provide international-standard services, ultimately supporting the overall quality of tourism services in The Nusa Dua. I Putu Trisna Wijaya stated, “ITDC is committed to continuously improving the quality of tourism services in The Nusa Dua area.
One of the strategic steps we are taking is to strengthen the role of MSMEs, which are key elements in supporting local tourism experiences. In particular, beach traders in The Nusa Dua play a vital role in maintaining the cultural and economic sustainability of the area. We extend our highest appreciation to Bali Polytechnic of Tourism for their collaboration and commitment in organizing this Community Service (PKM) activity. The synergy between the education sector and the tourism industry, as exemplified in this partnership, is a tangible testament to our joint efforts to enhance the competencies and competitiveness of MSMEs in The Nusa Dua, promoting sustainable tourism development.”
Dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Witarsana added, “Through this activity, we hope that MSME beach traders not only gain new knowledge and skills in hospitality, service, and multilingual communication but also learn how to apply them. This way, beach traders and other MSME actors can improve their service quality to align with the international tourism standards we aim to achieve in The Nusa Dua.”
The training consists of several sessions designed to enhance skills within the tourism industry. The first session covers effective customer interaction, excellent service, and language skills needed to improve communication with international tourists, presented by Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Agung Suprastayasa, M.Ed. Other topics discussed include Cross-Cultural Understanding by Dra Ni Kade Juli Rastitiati, M.Hum. During the second session on October 11, 2024, participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice or role play under the guidance of Made Artajaya, S.Pd., M.Si. In addition to receiving training materials, participants were encouraged to discuss and share experiences with facilitators and speakers, allowing them to broaden their insights and practical knowledge in enhancing the hospitality skills of MSMEs, with a special focus on improving service in various languages, including Mandarin and other foreign languages.
This collaborative PKM activity is expected to enhance the capabilities of MSME actors in The Nusa Dua, enabling them to provide better services in line with international tourism standards, while also preserving local economic and cultural sustainability. The program also aims to strengthen the role of MSMEs in supporting the overall tourism ecosystem in The Nusa Dua, thereby contributing positively to sustainable tourism development in Bali.
