Implementation of Faculty Capacity Development Through SVEB Training And Certification: Towards Global Standard Tourism and Hospitality Higher Education
As part of Bali Tourism Polytechnic's commitment to continually enhance the quality of vocational higher education in tourism and hospitality, four faculty members have completed training resulting in the attainment of SVEB Certification (Swiss Federation for Adult Learning), an international recognition indicating that the certified instructors are capable of applying international standards in adult education. This program was carried out in collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Swisscontact under the Sustainable Tourism Education Development (STED) Project.
Bali Tourism Polytechnic played an active role in implementing the SVEB Certification for its faculty members, contributing as the host institution for Phase 3 of the program. The activities took place from January 22 to 26, 2024, at the Graduate School Building of Bali Tourism Polytechnic. The entire academic community was involved in ensuring the success of the event. Students took an active role in organizing the event and provided excellent service at the venue and accommodation for participants and instructors, which was Kamala Hotel and Resort, a practice hotel of Bali Tourism Polytechnic.
Phase 3 of the program followed earlier SVEB trainings conducted during Phase 1 in Jakarta in October 2023 and Phase 2 at the Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern (SHL) in Switzerland in November 2023. Participants received knowledge and skills in Andragogy, the teaching methods tailored for adult learners, which are highly suitable for vocational higher education. The faculty members of Bali Tourism Polytechnic who completed the training and certification—Dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Witarsana, S.ST.Par., M.M., CHE., Anak Agung Gede Putra K.P Dalem, S.E., M.Par., Setyowati Ayu Widuri, S.E., M.Par., and Made Uttari Pitanatri, S.ST.Par, M.Par.—now serve as agents of change in elevating the quality of global-standard vocational higher education at Bali Tourism Polytechnic.
