**Gianyar, October 2-3, 2024** – Tegallalang Village in Gianyar, known for its stunning rice terrace views, continues to develop as a prime tourist destination. With the increasing number of visitors, villa and homestay operators in the village are facing intense competition, with 78 accommodations currently in operation. To tackle this challenge, accommodation managers need a solid understanding of how to determine competitive cost and selling prices.

Following the successful training on calculating cost of goods sold, the Hospitality Accounting Management Program has initiated further assistance for accommodation managers in the village. This support aims to deepen their knowledge of accurate selling price calculations, helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) develop effective pricing strategies.

As a tangible contribution, the Hospitality Accounting Management Program has provided accommodation managers with a pocket guide titled “Determining Cost Price and Selling Price for Accommodation and Restaurant Businesses.” This guide is intended to serve as a practical resource for villa, homestay, and restaurant operators in Tegallalang, enabling them to set optimal prices and ensure competitiveness in the tourism industry.

In his remarks, Dewa Gede Aris Megayasa, SH., Secretary of the Tegallalang Traditional Village, emphasized the importance of this assistance for small and medium enterprises. He stated, “This initiative not only helps our local SMEs calculate their cost of goods sold, but also provides crucial guidance for determining competitive and sustainable selling prices. The presence of this pocket guide will be a valuable asset for accommodation and restaurant managers in Tegallalang.”

He also expressed his hope that this initiative will greatly benefit the community and enhance the quality of tourism in the village.

Additionally, Dr. Putu Diah Sastri Pitanatri, S.ST.Par., M.Par., Head of the Research and Community Service Center (P3M) at Poltekpar Bali, underscored the vital role of higher education institutions in contributing to society. “Universities should not be ivory towers but must actively engage and contribute to the community, fostering synergy to create meaningful change in the surrounding environment,” she said.

This four-session assistance program involves three instructors at each accommodation. With the introduction of this pocket guide and the ongoing support, it is expected that accommodation managers will effectively set the right selling prices, helping to enhance their profitability and sustain their businesses amidst growing competition.
