From Ordinary Guests to Loyal Ones! Bali Tourism Polytechnic Provides Mixology and Excellent Service Training in Tomohon
Tomohon, October 24, 2024 – Bali Tourism Polytechnic, through its Community Service Program (PkM) in collaboration with the Tourism Office of Tomohon City, held a training event at the Amaris Hotel in Manado. This initiative demonstrates the institution’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources (HR) in the tourism sector. The event went beyond providing technical training, also aiming to foster changes in attitude, knowledge, and skills among participants, particularly in the areas of mixology and excellent service.
The PkM activity was attended by local community members actively involved in the hospitality sector, including homestay, restaurant, and café managers in Tomohon. With the majority of participants being women, the program also supports women’s empowerment in sustainable tourism in the region. This training served as a platform for participants to develop their skills in providing the best service to guests and setting new standards in service quality.
The excellent service session, led by a speaker from the Bali Tourism Polytechnic's Hospitality Program, focused on the importance of understanding and meeting guest expectations. Participants were guided to recognize the basic needs of guests, such as comfort, safety, and appreciation, which are key to maintaining guest satisfaction and loyalty.
The training also emphasized changes in attitude and professional behavior when serving guests. Participants were taught how to provide service with friendliness, empathy, and sincerity, creating unforgettable experiences for tourists. Additionally, they were equipped with knowledge on how to maintain the image and reputation of their businesses through consistent and high-quality service.
In addition to the excellent service content, Bali Tourism Polytechnic also provided practical mixology training, covering various techniques for making mixed drinks, such as stirring, shaking, and blending. Participants learned how to create drinks to international standards, which can enhance the service quality at their bars, restaurants, and cafés.
This mixology training not only provided technical skills but also encouraged innovation in creating new menus to attract tourists. Participants were trained to make various types of drinks, including mocktails and cocktails using local ingredients like arak, which can serve as a unique attraction for visitors.
