Discussing Sustainable Tourism, Bali Tourism Polytechnic Holds INSPIRE 2023 Seminar
PosBali.net, MANGUPURA - Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar) is one of the higher education institutions in Indonesia continuously striving for the development of the tourism sector in the country. The Applied Tourism Postgraduate Program (S2) of Poltekpar, located in the Nusa Dua tourist area of Bali, organized the International Conference on Hospitality, Tourism, and Entrepreneurship (INSPIRE) 2023 in Nusa Dua.
Several polytechnics participated in this international seminar, including Poltekpar Bali, Poltekpar Medan, Poltekpar NHI Bandung, Universitas Teknologi Mara, and Tamasak as the co-host of the seminar.
"Several Indonesian higher education institutions participating in this seminar discussed sustainable tourism," said the Director of Poltekpar Bali, Ida Bagus Putu Puja, in Nusa Dua on Thursday (August 31, 2023).
He explained that the INSPIRE seminar, involving numerous experts from both domestic and international institutions in its third edition (2023), was designed to reflect the current essence, which is the development of tourism with the concept of sustainable tourism development. The international seminar discussing tourism development that prioritizes local potentials is crucial to anticipate the number of tourist visits to Indonesia in the future.
"The development of one of the sectors in the economy that emphasizes service delivery, with the development of a concept based on local wisdom, should be discussed continuously," he said. According to him, the implementation of INSPIRE 2023 featured several experts as speakers from two national higher education institutions such as Poltekpar Bali and Poltekpar NHI Bandung.
Moreover, the international seminar also involved several speakers from abroad, including Universiti Teknologi MARA Penang Branch (Malaysia), Thammasat University (Thailand), Republic Polytechnic (Singapore), Phayao University (Thailand), and Victoria University (Australia). Other notable participants were the President of the Indonesia Hotel General Manager Association, the Founder of the Indonesia Professional Organizer Society, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation, and the Vice President of the Indonesia Archipelago, he added.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahhudin Uno, BBA., MBA, highlighted the post-pandemic tourism trend of sustainable tourism in his online address.
He emphasized that the growth of tourism prioritizes local wisdom-based tourism potentials, including nature, culture, environment, and local communities. Furthermore, the development of tourism in the country cannot stand alone but requires collaboration with various parties, especially local communities and the government, he added.
The INSPIRE 2023 seminar also included the awarding of Best Presenter to I Made Andika and Best Paper to Khairil Anuar bin Bahari, Nonny Aji Sunaryo, Noorsa Riza Johari, Noraini Rahim, and Noraslinda Mohd Said. Additionally, awards were given for Best Poster to Muhammad Izanee Daniel, Anderson Ngelambong, Hashim Fadsil Ariffin, I Putu Utama, and Luh Yusni Wiarti.
