**Bali, October 18, 2024** – Bali Polytechnic of Tourism (Poltekpar Bali), in collaboration with STED Swisscontact and Swisscontact Global Office, successfully held the dissemination event for the Collaborative Research Results of the Green Skills in Tourism Gap Assessment at Poltekpar Bali's Multipurpose Meeting Room. This event is part of the world's first pilot project assessing the gap in green skills within the tourism sector. Bali aims to become a model destination for implementing sustainable tourism aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting climate action (SDG 13) and responsible consumption and production (SDG 12).

The event began with a focus group discussion (FGD), led by the Head of the Research and Community Service Center at Poltekpar Bali, Mrs. Putu Diah Sastri Pitanatri, and the Senior Program Officer for Public-Private Partnership at SS4C (Swisscontact Indonesia), Mrs. Zahrah Ratna Sari. The activity aimed to identify the urgent green skills needed by the tourism industry to address climate change and transition to a low-carbon economy.

As a global tourist destination, Bali is expected to serve as a concrete example in adopting green skills such as resource efficiency, carbon management, and the development of environmentally friendly products and services. Sustainability communication is also a key focus to strengthen the transition towards more environmentally responsible tourism.

Poltekpar Bali's Director, Mr. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, emphasized, “This collaboration is a strategic step to ensure that Bali not only remains a tourist destination but also becomes a world leader in developing green skills relevant to the future of the tourism industry.”

Mr. Kiky Hendarin, VET Development Manager at SS4C, added, “In the future, opportunities for collaboration with various institutions related to waste management and environmentally friendly product packaging are expanding. Recycling and the use of sustainable packaging are crucial aspects of promoting green tourism. By involving more stakeholders from the industry and education, we can accelerate the transition towards more environmentally friendly production, ultimately having a positive impact on the environment and the local economy.”

The research findings are expected to serve as a foundation for developing more comprehensive training policies and programs. With this, Bali reinforces its position as a pioneer in sustainable tourism aligned with the SDGs, creating a greener future for the industry and the community.
