Bali Tourism Polytechnic's Master's Program in Applied Tourism (MTP) Conducts Community Service in Baturiti Village, Tabanan
TABANAN - Bali Tourism Polytechnic has once again demonstrated its commitment to community empowerment through a community service activity focusing on training in marketing communication and creative product sales techniques in Baturiti Village, Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency. This training took place on May 21-22, 2024, organized by the Master's Program in Applied Tourism (MTP) at Bali Tourism Polytechnic. The training aimed to enhance the skills and professionalism of local residents in the tourism sector.
Baturiti Village is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. Known as the "Kokokan" cultural tourism village and an agricultural area, it is situated at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. Previously, Baturiti Village was recognized for its Uma Kawan tourism products, popular in the 2020s. Today, the village hosts a community tourism group named Pokdarwis Baturiti Berseri, offering camping, trekking, hiking, and local specialty products such as royal honey bees. Recognizing this significant potential, it is crucial to enhance the skills and professionalism of the local community, especially in tourism destination marketing and management.
The MTP Program at Bali Tourism Polytechnic acknowledges the need for skills enhancement and professionalism among the local community, particularly in tourism information, marketing communication strategies, and sales techniques for entrepreneurship. Dr. I Ketut Surata, M.Sc., as the Activity Coordinator, stated that this initiative is part of Bali Tourism Polytechnic's responsibility to promote community welfare through service programs in tourism. This sentiment was echoed by Ketut Latra, the Secretary of Baturiti Traditional Village, emphasizing the beneficial impact of such activities on local residents, particularly in increasing income for small and medium enterprises.
The official opening of the event was conducted by Dr. I Gusti Agung Gede Witarsana, S.ST.Par., MM., CHE, Deputy Director 1 of Bali Tourism Polytechnic. He expressed hope that through this training, the community of Baturiti Traditional Village could enhance various skills, human resources, and village governance. Thirty participants attended the training at the Baturiti Village Chief's Office in Tabanan, comprising tourism business operators and local entrepreneurial pioneers.
The training offered a comprehensive curriculum with sessions designed to enhance technical skills and foster creativity in developing products and services that appeal to tourists. Moreover, this initiative underscores Bali Tourism Polytechnic's commitment to supporting tourism development in Bali through education and training. It is believed that with the right skills, the residents of Baturiti Village can optimize their tourism potential and enhance local economic prosperity.
