Politeknik Pariwisata Bali Preserves Balinese Culture Through Makardhi Werdhi Swara Competition
Politeknik Pariwisata Bali proudly hosted the Makardhi Werdhi Swara Competition on October 25, 2024. This event serves as a platform to preserve Balinese culture, aligning with Poltekpar Bali's role as a Centre of Excellence in cultural development.
According to Poltekpar Bali’s Director, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes, the competition is a valuable opportunity to sustain and introduce Balinese arts and culture to the younger generation. “This competition is not merely a performance but also a means of preserving Balinese cultural heritage,” said Dr. Putu Puja.
The competition featured Mekendang Tunggal (single drum performance) and Jauk Manis (a traditional Balinese dance) categories. Fifteen pairs of finalists from the regencies of Badung, Denpasar, Karangasem, Jembrana, Gianyar, and Tabanan participated in the event, with performances delivered in pairs.
Spectacular dances and captivating single-drum melodies echoed throughout the Joop Ave Hall at Poltekpar Bali, leaving the audience in awe. This event is expected to inspire ongoing efforts to preserve Balinese culture, particularly in the realm of performing arts.
