Bali Tourism Polytechnic and Tabanan Tourism Office Hold Collaborative Institutional Community Service in Kukuh Village

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, TABANAN – Bali Tourism Polytechnic and the Tabanan Tourism Office held a Collaborative Institutional Community Service event in Kukuh Village, Marga District, Tabanan, on Friday and Saturday, August 9-10, 2024. The event was themed 'Integrated Tourism Village Transformation: Building Superior Human Resources for Sustainable Tourism in Tabanan Regency.'

Tourism is one of the driving sectors of the economy in Tabanan Regency, especially in Kukuh Village. Alas Kedaton is an iconic site in Kukuh Village that has been well-managed and has provided employment opportunities and business prospects for the local community. However, after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a decline in tourist numbers, which also led to a decrease in the management quality of the Alas Kedaton Tourism Destination in Kukuh Village, Tabanan Regency. Through close collaboration with the Tabanan Regency Tourism Office, Bali Tourism Polytechnic provided the necessary knowledge and expertise to enhance local capacity in Tourism Villages. This joint commitment lays the foundation for transforming tourism villages in Tabanan into sustainable tourism models that can serve as examples at both regional and international levels.

This Collaborative Community Service (PKM) aims to develop and improve the quality of Human Resources (HR) in the tourism sector, particularly in Kukuh Tourism Village. Over two days, various training sessions were delivered by experts and practitioners in the tourism field to 30 participants, including residents of Kukuh Village, housewives, members of the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis), village officials, and waste bank cadres.

During the opening ceremony on August 9, 2024, the Deputy Director III of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti, A.Par., S.E., M.Par., M.Rech., representing the Director of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, stated that this activity is one of the efforts to support sustainable tourism development in Tabanan Regency.

"We hope that this activity will have a positive impact and foster a sustainable relationship with Kukuh Tourism Village," said Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti. During the event, participants received various training materials, including: a. Tourism Village Development and Best Practices in Tourism Village Management, delivered by the Chairman of Pokdarwis Desa Taro, Mr. I Wayan Gede Ardika, SE. b. Destination Management Planning for Kukuh Tourism Village, presented by Mr. Ida Bgs Gede Agung Widana, S.H., Dipl.TM., M.Par. c. Exploring Tourism Potential and Packaging Tourism Packages in Kukuh Village, presented by Mrs. Made Darmiati, S.Sn., M.Si.

Throughout the training, participants had the opportunity to engage in discussions with speakers and facilitators, allowing them to exchange ideas and experiences in managing Tourism Villages.

The Head of Kukuh Village, I Made Sugianto, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the implementation of the Collaborative Institutional Community Service in Kukuh Village. "I am very grateful to Bali Tourism Polytechnic and the Tabanan Tourism Office for choosing Kukuh Village as the destination to share knowledge and provide attention to us in Kukuh Village," said Made Sugianto. The event concluded with an official closing ceremony on August 10, 2024, which included the participants sharing their impressions of the training and the presentation of certificates as a token of participation in this Collaborative Institutional Community Service activity.
