Bali Polytechnic study program students "show off" cooking skills at the French Grastonomy Week at the Ampurva Kempinski Bali
Students from the Culinary Arts Program at Politeknik Pariwisata Bali received an exclusive invitation from the French Embassy through Alliance Francaise Bali to participate in the French Gastronomy Week on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The French Embassy, French Institute, Business France, and Alliance Francaise Indonesia are organizing the French Gastronomy Week from October 1 to 13, 2024. The event, titled "Le gout de France – Cita rasa Prancis j’adore," aims to promote the richness and diversity of French gastronomy in Indonesia.
One of the activities conducted during this week was a cooking demonstration featuring Michelin-starred Chef Jean-Baptiste Natali, Jean-Yves Leuranguer (MOF), and Chef Yoann Mathy. Students from Poltekpar Bali had the opportunity to participate directly, gaining hands-on experience in preparing authentic French dishes.
Also present at the event held at The Apurva Kempinski was the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Mr. Fabien Penone. In his speech, Penone expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by Poltekpar Bali students during the ambassador's visit in February at Poltekpar Bali.
The students had the chance to assist in the cooking process alongside the three chefs. Chef Jean-Baptiste prepared Gelee de Yuzu aux Navets (Yuzu Jelly with Turnips) and Barramundi Marine au Citron (Barramundi Marinated in Lemon); Chef Jean-Yves served Spaghetti with Orange Juice and Shrimps; and Chef Yoann made Mousse au Chocolat 70% Aerienne with Caramelized Rice Soufflé.
The direct cooking experience and insights from these renowned chefs motivated the students to further develop their skills in the culinary arts.
