Annyeonghaseyo! The Korean Centre is set to open soon at Poltekpar Bali!
Nusa Dua, August 23, 2024 – With the growing popularity of Korean pop culture in music, film, food, and beauty, South Korea has become a benchmark in the global tourism industry. Bali Politeknik of Tourism, in collaboration with the Daewoong Foundation, recognizes this potential and aims to enhance educational quality through the establishment of a Korean Centre. The centre will not only focus on Korean language training but also on cultural exchange and the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
Poltekpar Bali's status as a leading state tourism college in Bali is evidenced by its continued production of professional graduates in tourism and hospitality. One of Poltekpar Bali's major visions is to become an internationally accredited state tourism institution, and to this end, it has partnered with the Daewoong Foundation to open a centre for learning about Korean language and culture. Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti, the Deputy Director III of Poltekpar Bali, stated that the establishment of the Korean Centre demonstrates the commitment of both Poltekpar Bali and the Daewoong Foundation to enhance vocational education quality in Indonesia.
The Daewoong Foundation is part of the Daewoong Group, a South Korean pharmaceutical company. Although primarily in the health sector, the foundation has collaborated with various universities in Indonesia, including Universitas Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Bandung, to support educational quality improvements. Poltekpar Bali has seized this opportunity to partner with the Daewoong Foundation as part of its mission. On August 16, 2024, Poltekpar Bali signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the foundation. This collaboration will not only focus on Korean language training but also on implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which includes education, research, and community service.
Soyeon, General Manager of the Daewoong Foundation, visited Poltekpar Bali to inspect the future Korean Centre office located in the Postgraduate Building I Gede Ardhika. This site visit is part of the preparations for the official opening of the Korean Centre. Soyeon expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with Poltekpar Bali. “The Daewoong Foundation hopes to assist Poltekpar Bali students not only in learning the Korean language but also by providing support and guidance for students undertaking internships or credit transfers to universities in South Korea,” she noted.
“The Korean Centre will accommodate not only Poltekpar Bali students but also the wider community interested in developing their Korean language skills,” Soyeon added. The centre is expected to open by the end of this year. The Daewoong Foundation will also offer scholarship opportunities for Poltekpar Bali students planning to intern or transfer credits to Korea, demonstrating its dedication to enhancing educational quality in Indonesia.
