Poltekpar Bali Hosts Studium Generale with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative E conomy Discussing Peaceful and Sustainable Tourism

Nusa Dua – Bali Tourism Polytechnic was once again appointed as the host for the Studium Generale event organized in collaboration with the Polytechnic Tourism Institute under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia. The Studium Generale event for 2024 took the form of a talk show with the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia, Sandiaga Uno, as the keynote speaker. Held at the Joop Ave Hall, Poltekpar Bali, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, the Studium Generale was conducted both online and offline. It was attended by all Tourism Polytechnics (NHI Bandung, Medan, Palembang, Lombok, and Makassar) and two External Campus Study Programs (PSDKU Sragen and PSDKU Manado), with participants joining from their respective campuses and connecting online.

According to a report from the Director of Poltekpar Bali, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes, over 10,000 participants, both online and offline, enthusiastically welcomed the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. H. Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, BBA., MBA. Also present were the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mrs. Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, along with officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, including the Head of Human Resources Development Center, Head of Data and Information Systems Center, Head of Communication Bureau, Head of Financial Planning Bureau, and all Directors of Tourism Polytechnics under the Ministry. The talk show was made more interactive with the 360-degree Talkshow concept, which created a sense of closeness between the participants and the speakers, facilitating interaction from all directions. The talk show was moderated by Dr. Irene Hanna H. Sihombing, SE., MM, CHE., a lecturer and Head of the Cultural Tourism Studies Unit. The Studium Generale focused on the theme ‘Tourism for Peace and Sustainability: Living in Harmony’. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy discussed concepts and practices of tourism aimed at promoting peace and environmental sustainability.

For approximately 40 minutes, Minister Uno explained how the goal of peace is embedded in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution. Therefore, he urged all parties and students to become agents of change. He further elaborated on strategies for developing peace tourism for students as peace agents, including economic, social, cultural, environmental, and peace-building strategies. “The hope in achieving peace through the 3Si: innovation, adaptation, and collaboration, and the tourism spirit of 3G: swift action, acceleration, and intense effort,” stated Sandiaga Uno. The compelling theme presented by Minister Sandiaga Uno opened the eyes of all parties involved regarding the future goals of tourism, namely peaceful and sustainable tourism. Before concluding the event, participants and guests had the opportunity to take a group photo at the end of the session.
