Bali Tourism Polytechnic Strengthens Human Resources in Tourism Awareness Groups

TABANAN, NusaBali - Bali Tourism Polytechnic held a community service activity themed 'Integrated Tourism Village Transformation: Building Superior Human Resources for Sustainable Tourism in Tabanan Regency.' This community service targeted several villages in Tabanan Regency, including Kukuh Village, Marga District.

In the initial phase, Bali Tourism Polytechnic conducted a program to strengthen the human resources of the tourism awareness group (Pokdarwis) in Kukuh Village, Marga. The event was opened by the Deputy Director III of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Dr. Luh Yusni Wiarti.

The Chairperson of the Community Service Program at Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Ni Made Tirtawati, stated that the event was attended by 30 participants from the Kukuh Village government, village and customary banjar (community) leaders, pecalang (traditional Balinese security), and waste bank cadres. The program was held over two days, featuring speakers from academia and tourism practitioners. On the first day, the Chairman of the Pokdarwis in Taro Village, Tegalalang District, Gianyar, I Wayan Ardika, presented material on the role of Pokdarwis in tourism village development and best practices in tourism village management. Mr. Ida Bagus Gede Agung Widana discussed destination management planning for Kukuh Tourism Village.

On the second day, the speaker Mrs. Made Darmiati provided material on exploring tourism village potential and packaging tourism packages in Kukuh Tourism Village. After the presentation, participants were divided into four groups to explore tourism potential in each banjar. "We are providing assistance to strengthen the human resources of Pokdarwis so that Kukuh Tourism Village can be sustainable," said Tirtawati.

The Head of Kukuh Village, I Made Sugianto, said that in his vision and mission, he aims to realize Kukuh Tourism Village in collaboration with the government and universities. "We are grateful to have received a positive response from Bali Tourism Polytechnic, and today we are receiving assistance to strengthen the human resources of Pokdarwis," said Sugianto.

Previously, the village had also received branding support through photography from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. It is hoped that the activities from Bali Tourism Polytechnic will be the beginning and that continued support will help Kukuh Tourism Village become self-sufficient. Sugianto believes that collaboration with Bali Tourism Polytechnic will help identify the potential and management of the tourism village, benefiting the community.
